We are a non-ideological house, publishing on all sides of the political spectrum. Dee paperbacks are also used extensively in college courses as supplementary reading. We no longer accept accept new manuscript submissions for New Amsterdam Books. J. S. Sanders & Company, an imprint of Ivan R. Dee, was founded by John Sanders of Nashville, Tennessee, to publish and republish general trade books in Southern culture, history, and literature, including the Southern Classics Series, a series which "restores to our awareness some of the South's most important writers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries" (Hudson Review). Many classic novels about the South, as well as histories and biographies of the region and its leaders, are still in print today thanks to J. S. Sanders. Schedules are flexible within the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Friday) regular office hours. Interns are required to work 15-25 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. We are willing to work with universities to arrange for course credit. Transportation and lunch costs can be accommodated.
